Greetings and happy hump day UBFM!
I hope this message finds you in the middle of a magnificent
Wednesday. Perhaps the time has come that we may not have to deal with frigid
temps on our rides. It is currently 62 degrees and the sun is trying its best
to make a bright appearance. For the first Wednesday night this year the
thermal layer will stay in the closet. Heck, I might even go short sleeve J
Despite the cold evening, last Wednesday saw a great group
of pedaling disciples on the streets of Memphis. Even with the cold temps 18
people came outfitted with bikes, helmets, backpacks, and a giving spirit. In
addition, a large group of people helped prepare food, collect supplies, donate
funds and provisions, and prayed for our mission. Thank you all for the time
and love you constantly provide to this organization. I strongly believe that
God orchestrates the operation of this ministry; God built it for a reason.
But, God makes it happen through a magnificent group of people. It is such a
blessing to have the opportunity to witness it. Thank you!
We are working on putting together another fundraiser. It is
in the preliminary stages but it looks like a good beer tasting and silent
auction will be the event type. It will take place at Overton Park Clubhouse on
April 12, at 7:00 PM. So far, everything is coming together well. I hope to
have tickets on sale in the next couple of weeks. I will certainly keep you all
posted. I need some items to add to the silent auction. If you or your business
would like to provide items please let me know.
This year we are going to dive into some new projects, hence
the fundraiser. I have gained some knowledge out of this recent winter season:
more provisions are needed for our friends and neighbors in Memphis. The ideas
I have are a bit cloudy but I see God working through this group constantly. If
we put our hearts and minds to something, God willing, it will be done. I will
do my best to keep you all posted on future events.
Tonight we will meet at our regular scheduled time of 7:30
PM at First United Methodist Church, 204 N Second St, Memphis, TN 38105. Feel
free to show up at 6:30 if you would like to help prepare some burritos and/or
set up for the ride. If you plan on joining us, all you need is a bike,
backpack/messenger bag, helmet, and a giving spirit. A blinking light might be
good addition. We are riding at
night.
I look forward to seeing those who are planning on riding
with us. If you are unable to join I ask that you send some prayers our way.
Pray that we find those who are in need of what we have to offer. Also pray
that we have the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life. I also ask
that you spread the word of our mission. Tell people who we are and what we do.
Thank you for your support and all your many blessings!
Peace
