11-6-13

Greetings and Hello UBFM,

I hope this post finds you all in the middle of a magnificent week. Step outside of your door, look around, and take in some of these autumn colors. Beautiful! It seems that we might see a little rain tomorrow night. Let’s not allow this to slow down our weekly mission. We have seen many rainy Wednesday nights and endured to serve our neighbors. However, there is only a 60% chance of rain. That means a 40% chance of staying dry. I love these odds! We still a lot of materials (blankets and jackets) to allocate tonight. I have extra trailers to load if there are any interests in towing one.

Though I was not present last week I understand it was a magnificent evening. The weather was good, a large crowd of compassionate discyplists showed, and a great mission was fulfilled. Thank you all for the love, time, and effort you all placed into making the evening possible. Despite being on holiday I couldn’t help but think about my congregation of UBFM’rs dedicating their time to a purpose. Thank you all for the wonderful work you do. Thank you for the prayers, the thoughts, for sharing about the organization, the donations, the funding, the hands-on work, the cooking, and all of the support. It is because of you that we are able to do this.

Since we are getting closer to wintertime we will be in the market for winter care package supplies. We are still in the market for hygiene products but we are now looking for some additional items for cold weather. Here are a few things we could use:

Toothpaste
Hand sanitizer
Lotion
Toothbrushes
Hand warmers (Hot Hands)
Warm socks
Gloves
Caps
Snacks
Candy

If you and/or your church, class, work place, friends, or family are interested in making some of these packages feel free to create them however you would like. If you have ideas for supplies to add, go for it. Last year a group placed a separate, smaller bag in each package with a stamp, envelope, pen, and paper. Another group included change and detergent for doing laundry. These are just a couple of the unique care package ideas. We ask that you place all the items for each package in a one-gallon ziplock bag. This allows us to carry them in our packs and in our trailers. If you have any questions please give me a shout. tommy@ubfm.org

If you plan on riding with us tonight I cannot wait to see you, serve with you, and share some fellowship. I missed you all last week! We will continue with our normal routine: my doors will open at 6:30 PM if you would like to show up early. We will load up at 7:30 and try to roll out at 8:00. We will most likely all return by 10:00.
If you are unable to join us for the ride you can still be involved. I ask that you pray for us and/or share with you friends, family, and colleagues about our efforts. Allow people to hear about what we do.

I hope you all have a wonderful and spirit-filled week!

Peace
