Greetings and Good day to you all UBFM!

I hope the multiple days of stormy weather have not brought you down. Though, there is still rain in the forecast it seems to be a lower chance than it has for several days. That, of course, means there is a higher chance we will not see any showers today. J However, if you are planning on joining the ride this evening, I suggest packing a light rain jacket just in case.

Last week a large group of compassionate folks showed up full of zeal and eager to share gifts with our friends and neighbors on the streets of Memphis. We distributed a little over 300 delicious burritos in addition to several cases of water and various snacks. Thanks to all of the riders who participated in allocating supplies but many thanks to the great people who invested time in preparing food, donating funds, donating supplies, sharing our mission, and praying for this organization. We are able to continue to do God’s work because of your efforts. God’s love shines through your work. It is a blessing to experience that with you.

I want to remind you all that we are still meetings on Saturday mornings. Taylor Merritt has put together a great UBFM ride serving breakfast burritos rather than our traditional. The ride is not as long as Wednesday night and it is limited to the downtown/Main Street Area. This is a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in our mission and is unable to make it on Wednesday night. And, who needs an excuse to ride their bike around downtown on a summer morning? If you are free at 7:30 Saturday morning join this group for a short ride around downtown while serving breakfast to our neighbors on the streets. They meet at FUMC: 204 N Second St, Memphis, TN 38105

Last night a small UBFM crew met for a burrito making party and bible study. Our friends and UBFM members, Christian and Shannon Lemon, hosted this event at their house. We now have 80 extra burritos to add to our accumulation tonight. Our study was not so much a bible study as it was a discussion question, supported by scripture. This was fun and very refreshing. We want to continue having this event and we plan on replicating it next week. Christian and Shannon have graciously agreed to host it again next week but we would like to change the venue to another member’s house in the near future. If you are interested in hosting a burrito and discussion party please give me a shout.

Tonight we will meet at our regular scheduled time and place: 7:30 PM at FUMC, 204 N Second St, Memphis, TN 38105. If you would like to help with preparing some burritos, Brent will get started in the kitchen around 6:00 PM. We will roll out around 8:00 and return around 9:30 or 10:00. If you plan on riding with us I look forward to seeing you and serving with you. If you are joining us for the first time all you need to bring is a bike, helmet, backpack, and a giving spirit. Try to remember to put some flashing lights on your bikes. You can purchase front and rear flashers at any bike shop or sporting goods store. These lights allow motorists to see us and it also allows our friends on the streets to see us and know we are near.

If you are unable to join us I ask that you pray for our mission. Pray that we are safe but pray that we find people who are in need of our offering. Pray that we make a difference in someone’s life and pray that we make an impact on our city. Thank you for all of the time, donations, and prayers you all give to this mission. It is a blessing to work with you sharing God’s love with God’s people.

Peace
