12-31-14

Greetings UBFM!

The year has come to an end and oh, what a year it has been! I am constantly amazed at what God can do through God’s people for God’s people. Take a minute and reflect on some events from the year…. I can’t believe so much has happened! However, I am not surprised to continually see the wonderful things many of you do through this ministry. It seems like every week I hear stories of how God has worked through you or through someone else and it affected you. That will continue to happen and I have a feeling that we will all continue to be amazed at the work God does in 2015. I am excited to share next year with you.

As for the last night of 2014, let us wrap it up with a bang! It is certainly cold outside and I hope that we do not see many people out tonight. However, I know there will be some. If you are planning on joining us we can use some extra handwarmers, blankets, gloves, and miscellaneous cold weather gear. Search your closets for the things you do not use. Perhaps it is time to part with that Members Only jacket. Or, you know after Thanksgiving and Christmas you need to go up a size in you thermals. Or, maybe you have plans in 2015 to spend more time away from the couch and TV and you no longer need that fleece Snuggy. I know some people who would love to make use of those items.

I have a few new projects for UBFM in 2015. I have nothing set in stone yet but one of the projects is designed to provide some of our neighbors on the streets with bicycles. There will be more to come on that project but I know I will need your help. Stay tuned…

Tonight we will meet at our regular scheduled time and place: 7:30 PM at FUMC, 204 N Second St, Memphis, TN 38105. If you would like to help with preparing some burritos, We will get started in the kitchen around 6:00 PM. We will hit the streets at 8:00 and return around 9:30 or 10:00. If you are joining us for the first time all you need to bring is a bike, helmet, backpack, and a giving spirit. Try to remember to put some flashing lights on your bikes. You can purchase front and rear flashers at any bike shop or sporting goods store. These lights allow motorists to see us and it also allows our friends on the streets to see us and know we are near.

If you are unable to join us I ask that you pray for our mission. Pray that we are safe but pray that we find people who are in need of our offering. Pray that we make a difference in someone’s life and pray that we make an impact on our city. Thank you for all of the time, donations, and prayers you all give to this mission. It is a blessing to work with you sharing God’s love with God’s people.

Peace & Happy New Year!
