Greetings
my friends and UBFMers!
I
hope you are all doing well and enjoying a wonderful hump day. The weather is
starting to cool down a little bit and, if you feel like I do, it will be
welcomed.
Lately
we have been blessed with some great publicity opportunities. If you didn’t
notice, we were given a wonderful article in Memphis’ Commercial Appeal. Click here
to view the article. Thanks to Jennifer Biggs for being very detailed in her
work.
Also,
if you are a cyclist you have probably purchased or viewed a copy of Bicycling magazine at some point. It is
sold nationally and you can likely purchase a copy at the local bookstore, bike
shop, or grocery store. If you are able to get an updated copy, turn to page 22
and you will see an article about UBFM! The Article is titled, How Bikes Are making Cities More Awesome. It
is short but Memphis made #8 out of a large group of American cities! This is
all thanks to UBFM and their efforts to show love to our friends and neighbors.
Your compassion is a bright light and it is becoming brighter.
You
might have noticed that we have been hosting some volunteer training
opportunities. First, thanks to Lyle Udell and the UBFM leadership group for
coordinating these workshops. Second, this is a great learning opportunity for
new and experienced volunteers. These short workshops not only help volunteers
to become a little more comfortable working with UBFM but they give a lot of
instruction and inspiration on how to reach out to our friends and neighbors on
the streets. Each month these workshops will be provided. Keep an eye out on
our Facebook page and the website for future dates.
