Greetings my fellow UBFMers!
I hope this message finds you soaking in some of the
sunshine that is leisurely creeping over the skyline. Though the temperature
might be a bit bitter here in Memphis, the sunshine feels quite good. Let us
continue to encourage springtime weather. It can’t be far off; it’s nearly
April. I’m sure the Memphis mosquito community is just as anxious as we are…oh
wait. J
Anyhoo, last Wednesday UBFM hosted an amazing group of
volunteers. Twenty eager and giving disciplists showed up with bikes to deliver
supplies and meals around midtown and downtown Memphis. Witnessing this
experience never ceases to humble me. Through rain, sleet, snow, and extreme
heat this group shows up ready to serve their neighbor. Let me not forget all
of those who help make this happen. Despite busy schedules and life’s
consistent challenges, there are people who donate time, supplies, money, and
offer prayers to our weekly mission and us. You know who you are and I give
thanks daily for witnessing your efforts to keep this ministry at work. Thanks
to all of the volunteers, we distributed over 300 burritos, 3 cases of water, 4
cases of sodas, and several cases of pastries. Many thanks go tot the people
who had there hands in making this possible!
Since the beginning of this organization we have only
traveled through midtown and downtown Memphis. I have always had an interest in
extending our reach a little more. I know there are other places in Memphis as
well as other towns that could benefit from a similar service. With the growth
of our volunteer base, I would love to start this ministry in other areas. I am
basically just tossing the idea among those who read these posts. If you are
interested in starting UBFM in your area or your town, if you feel there is a
need, let me know. The growth in this location has been great. There is no
reason why we cannot extend out reach a little more.
Please do not forget that we have fundraisers happening very
soon! If you are interested in joining us for live music, good food, and a
silent auction you can purchase tickets here: http://www.eventbrite.com/e/urban-bicycle-food-ministry-silent-auction-with-big-city-circus-tickets-10927609775

38105. If you are interested in helping make some burritos and prepare for the

all you need is a bicycle, backpack, helmet, and a giving spirit. If you are
unable to join us, I ask that you pray for our mission. Pray for our safety but
pray that we find the people that our in need of our help. If you are not the
praying type, tell people about us; tell people who we are and what we do.
Spread the word of our mission.
Thank you ALL for the time, money, supplies, work, prayers,
and love you invest into this organization. It is because of you we are able to
spread love and concrete acts of kindness into our city. Those efforts spread
around; people hear about what we do and it gives people hope. It allows people
to know there are good things happening. Though we do live in a relatively dark
world, a small light makes a huge impact. My friends, you are that light.
Peace
