I hope this message finds you doing well and enjoying your week. Tonight is a great night to ride our bikes and spread some love in our city. We will meet at our regular scheduled time and place. If you are planning on riding with us tonight, arrive at the Carpenter's House at 7:30. We will ride out at 8:00 and return 9:00-9:30. If you are interested in helping out in kitchen you can arrive at the church around 6:30. You will find the address below.
The weather forecast for the night is "steamy". That means we need to be intentional about distributing as much bottled water as possible. I want to thank everyone for all of the donations of bottled water. Please keep it coming! We are going through bottled water quickly. Also, if you are riding make sure that one or two of the people in your group have a can of insect repellant to share with our neighbors.
Over the past couple of weeks there has been a lot happening in the world and in our own backyards. There has been a lot of hate and anger and it hurts me when I witness hate creating more hate. I really do not think there is a quick fix to any problem. However, I do believe there is a path to healing and it is paved with love and compassion. I was having a conversation with a gentleman yesterday about how Memphis has done really well with creating bicycle lanes. We both agreed that our city's new bike lanes have made our city a safer place to commute via bike. The gentleman then said, "Now, if we can just learn to love each other..." I hope that our UBFM rides create a conduit for a mission to love one another. I hope that we travel that path to healing on our rides, the path paved with love and compassion for our neighbors. Will you join us this week as we offer love and compassion to our neighbors?
