Greetings
my friends and fellow disciplists!
I
hope this message finds you well and enjoying the first week of September. UBFM
has been discussing some things to implement that will help to serve our
neighbors a more extensively and effectively. This does not mean we are going
to make any significant changes to our regular routines. This does mean that we
will probably open up some additional volunteer opportunities. Since we have
grown quite rapidly in the recent years we have been given the opportunity so
serve more people. However, that will require more hands.
A
lot people come to us with an interest to volunteer but they do not ride bikes.
In those cases we typically invite these volunteers to help in the kitchen.
Lately, the kitchen has been getting too full with volunteers (This is not a
bad thing!) Now we have some new volunteer positions. On Wednesday evenings we
have been giving out some basic necessities to the guests that show up at the
Carpenter’s House before the ride. We love being able to do this but it
requires a handful of people to coordinate. If you are interested in
volunteering for this process, arrive at the Carpenter’s House at 6:00-6:15.
Ellen Hudson has been coordinating these efforts. She is the person you will
need to ask for.
We
will load up tonight at 7:30 and ride out at 8:00 we will return around 9
-9:30. We meet at the Carpenter's House, same loacation as the FUMC (see
below). If you would like to help prepare burritos, we will start in the
kitchen of FUMC at 6:30.
We
will also meet on Saturday morning at 7:30am to load up and roll out at 8:00.
We will return around 9:00. If you would like to help out in the kitchen we
start cooking at 7:00am. The meeting location is the same as the Wednesday
night ride.
