Happy
Thanksgiving Friends!
I
love this time of the year. This is certainly my favorite holiday. I love the
food, spending with family and friends, and it marks as preparation for the
Advent season. This has always been a special time for me. However, I can’t
help but think about the people that do not have the amenities that I do. I
can’t help but think about the people that search trashcans for food while I
have more than enough. At the end of the Thanksgiving day, my belly is full of
good food and my heart is full of the love of my family. But, not everybody is
blessed with that kind of nourishment. Many of our friends and neighbors that
we regularly meet with have no place to go or no family to visit with on
Thanksgiving.
The
Wednesday of Thanksgiving has traditionally been a big evening for UBFM. Some
of the largest volunteer groups have shown up on the week of Thanksgiving. I
would like to suggest that we continue that tradition and overly share with our
friends and neighbors in need this week. Let this week be one that we remind
our neighbors that we care for them.
We
will load up tonight at 7:30 and ride out at 8:00. We will return around 9
-9:30. We meet at the Carpenter's House, same location as the FUMC (see below).
If you would like to help prepare burritos, we will start in the kitchen of
FUMC at 6:30.
We
will also meet on Saturday morning at 7:30am to load up and roll out at 8:00.
We will return around 9:00. If you would like to help out in the kitchen we
start cooking at 7:00am. The meeting location is the same as the Wednesday
night ride.
