Greetings and happy Monday UBFM!
At least, I think it’s Monday. All of my days are starting
to meld together. Once again I am out of town at a youth conference. This time
I am on Purdue University Campus surrounded by thousands of teenagers. This should
be an interesting week to say the least. I wish I were gearing up my bike for
an urban ride on Wednesday night instead. I will certainly miss you all this
week.
Last week was another successful Wednesday night meeting.
Over two hundred and sixty burritos, seven cases of bottled water, over fifty
care packages, and some other miscellaneous items were delivered to the streets
of Memphis by twenty-one compassionate, bike pedaling disciples. Our neighbors
were very happy to see us for it was quite hot and we were equipped with a lot
of water. Thank you all for making this happen and allowing this event to come
together. Thanks to all of those who were there delivering but also thanks to
those who donated supplies, time, prayers, and love to this mission. I have
said this before but seeing the work of God is awesome. Seeing the work of God
happen among your friends, people you know and love, is a remarkable blessing.
What’s better than watching this unfold every week?
In addition to our Wednesday night meeting, many UBFM
members came together to help another urban ministry. We discovered Manna House
had a need for lunches to be prepared that would be later distributed to our
neighbors on the streets. Without hesitation, many of you organized and made it
happen. There were over one hundred lunches prepared and donated on Thursday of
last week. Your compassion for the
people on the streets is great. Your will to fabricate small, concrete acts of
kindness creates a bright light on the streets of Memphis. If it is possible to
change the world into a better, more peaceful place, you are making and
influencing the first steps. God bless you all.
Let us continue to do good things in the world by meeting
again this week! Same time as usual: 124 Roberta @ 7:30. Feel free to arrive
early for some pre-ride fellowship. The group will separate into small groups
and roll out at 8:00 PM. We will try to be back around 10:00 PM. There is a
need for some chips, candy, bottled water, sodas, and other snack items.
Supplies may be dropped of at my house any time of the week. I hope you all
have a great week and I will miss you. I look forward to seeing you and serving
with you next week!
Peace
