Good Morning and Happy Hump day!
I have to apologize for the late update regarding last week
and the late event post for this week. This is a result of attempting to pry
too many activities into one week. We’ve all been guilty of it at some time or
another. Nevertheless, it is my favorite day of the week and I’m eager for some
urban riding and fellowship.
Last week was magnificent! Sixteen benevolent, selfless,
cycling disciples (discyplists) came together to make something superb happen
in Memphis. We scattered 50 care packages, 8 cases of bottled water, and 220
burritos over midtown and downtown Memphis. Many thanks go to those who made
this experience possible. One of my favorite things about Wednesday night is
having the opportunity to see God at work. What makes this experience so much
better is seeing God at work through my friends.
As for this week: the weather prediction looks to be quite
sultry for the evening. A pass through the fountains on Main Street might be a suitable
detour for our routes. With that in mind, bottled water will, most likely, be
the largest request for the night. We’ve had a great and generous amount of
snacks and small supplies donated this week. We will have these to dispense in
addition to a number of care packages. I am unsure of the number of burritos we
will have to distribute but I know it will be large! A couple of very
compassionate and gracious groups are coming together to supply burritos and
extra riders this week. We are so blessed to have these parties to work in concurrence
with this ministry. Occasions like this are how we are able to grow and reach
the city in a greater capacity. If you have a group (church, business, school,
social group, circle of friends) that would like to participate and/or
contribute on Wednesday night let me know. We can always use the additional
hands.
If you plan on joining us tonight I cant wait to see you and
serve with you. We will meet as we usually do: my doors are open at 6:30 if you
are in need of bike maintenance and/or want to shoot the breeze. We will load
up at 7:30 and try to roll out at 8:00. Most of us should be back around 10:00.
If you are unable to join us tonight I ask that you send us some thoughts and
prayers of safety. Spread the word about what we are doing so that motorists
will be more aware of our presence. Thank you all for your participation,
contributions, publicity, love, and prayers! Without you, this would not be
possible.
Peace!
