Greetings and Happy Monday Friends!
I hope this message finds you all
in the middle of a lovely Monday. I know the overcast in Memphis is a bit dim
but don’t look at it as dull weather. See it as the change of season, the
arrival of, and the much hankered jacket weather. With that being said I hope
you all enjoy autumn as much as I.
Last Wednesday was a great but
humbling experience. Unfortunately, we were unable to distribute as many
burritos. We felt the impact quickly as we all ran out of supplies early in the
evening. Thanks to a gracious UBFM member we had enough granola bars and water
to sate the city of Memphis. When I say state that we ran out of burritos early
that means we handed out approximately 200 vs. the standard 300. We still may
have out served the average Taco Bell. We were able to distribute a number of
blankets as well. I feel this will be a growing trend. If you have any old
blankets you would like to part with we have homes for them.
Scads of thanks go to the 20
gracious, pedaling discyplists who made a large impact on the city of Memphis
Wednesday night. Also, many, many thanks go to the magnificent people who
donated time and energy to make sure we had burritos and supplies to allocate.
You are all a huge part of this ministry. I also want to thank the person who
left the huge box of beef jerky on my porch Friday. It will be shared with our
neighbors this week. It’s a good thing I’m a pescatarian J
I would like to bulk up on burritos
this week. I know one of our donators will be on holiday. So, if you have a
craving to make a bunch of bean burritos, this is your week! If it is your interest, the formulation is
quite simple: a large tortilla, beans, rice, and a little chedda, wrapped in
foil. The number is totally up to you. If needed, I will greet you before
Wednesday night for retrieval. Feel free to deviate from said recipe. Be unique
if it is your appeal.
We will assume the standard
Wednesday night schedule this week. My doors will be open at 6:30 PM for those
who like to show up early for spit and bull**** (this is what we used to do
when I worked at the local Tractor Supply Co. in high school). We will begin to
load our bags at 7:30 PM with hopes to separate and depart at 8:00 PM. We will
most likely all return and reconvene at 10:00 for snacks, beverages, and
fellowship.
If it is your plan to come join the
group of discyplists for a ride this week I am eager to see you, serve with
you, and share some fellowship. If you are unable to join us I ask that you
send us some prayers for safety and guidance. Allow us to make a large impact
on the people we interact with and the city we serve in. Nevertheless, God
bless you all and your week!
Peace
